Hass Avocado + Bees = Sustainability

Published on August 25, 2023

Targeted pollination in our crops

We continue working to implement directed pollination in our Hass avocado crops. In this way, we demonstrate that both ecosystems can coexist in harmony, generating benefits for both chains, contributing to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

On this occasion, as part of the Environmental Agenda that we developed together with Cornare in Antioquia, we shared the training in directed pollination with Aphis Melifera.

In the municipality of Abejorral, the producers of our Hass develop their knowledge in this regard and put it into practice so that their learning is long term.

This experience was born in Risalda

The project of directed pollination with Aphis Mellifera bees in Hass avocado crops began in Risaralda, in 2021, as a contribution to the convergence between agricultural and beekeeping production systems.

With this initiative we want to demonstrate that this correlation is possible and that both processes complement each other.

It is important to keep in mind that, as a transversal practice throughout the project, we are committed to the proper management of agrochemicals. Only in this way can we avoid their negative impact on the bee population, while ensuring the quality of our fruit.
